About URC 2021

On July 7-8, 2021, Lithuania and Ukraine held a joint Ukraine Reform Conference in Vilnius. This is the fourth conference, with previous events held in London (2017), Copenhagen (2018) and Toronto (2019).

This year's conference brought together Ukraine and its
international partners for:

Discussing of the results
of implementing reforms
Combining efforts and supporting reforms that will help strengthen the country and implement ambitious Ukraine Strategy 2030
Continuing consistent
and sustainable reforms

The conference was an opportunity for international partners to once again confirm their support for Ukraine as an independent state and its vision for future development, as well as express solidarity with the Ukrainian people.

As in previous years, the Ukraine Reform Conference was joined by well-known participants, including political leaders of the European Union, NATO countries, other international organizations and partner countries, as well as leading representatives of Ukrainian public organizations, businesses, analytical centers, media and the Ukrainian diaspora.

Taking into account the restrictions associated with Covid-19, the conference was held in a hybrid format, which provided for personal and online participation of speakers and guests of the event in Vilnius.

Agenda of reforms
in Ukraine

After the presidential and parliamentary elections in 2019, Ukraine political leaders announced an ambitious package of reforms aimed at modernizing the country, its international integration and the welfare of the Ukrainian people.

A democratic, secure and competitive European Ukraine, applies the rule of law, is a vision that combines the aspirations of the Ukrainian people, the goals of the country's political leadership and the interests of the international democratic community.

Ukraine's success lies within the interests of the global community. Understanding this, the country has begun structural and politically complex transformations in governance, economic and social sectors.

Strengthening the market economy, enhancement the stability of society, the course towards European and Euro-Atlantic integration, democracy and the rule of law, as well as the combating corruption are integral parts of the country's development.

These large-scale goals provide for the implementation of particular reforms in such areas as the judicial system, decentralization, privatization, reform of state-owned enterprises, land reform, state administration reform, ensuring the independence and effective functioning of anti-corruption institutions, criminalization of unlawful enrichment, energy sector reform, reform of security and defence sector etc.

All these reforms are included in the Ukraine Strategy 2030 and other documents. Promoting the formation of the reform agenda in Ukraine and their implementation is part of the support of the international community and partnership with Ukraine.
